A heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who helped in some way to contribute to the success of our first ever Dancing with the Lee County Stars fundraiser! Even in a dismal economy, the community rallied around our event and managed to save CIS Lee County by raising over $58,000!

Dancer Photographs will be on display and for sale at the Artists’ Loft until Friday, September 18th. Proceeds from the sale of photos will be shared by the Lee County Arts Council and Communities in Schools of Lee County. The Artists’ Lost is located above the Shops at Steele Street (102 S. Steele St) and is open 12-5 Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and 10-5pm on Friday.

WHO: Communities in Schools of Lee County and Wyeth are proud to present Dancing with the Lee County Stars, featuring thirty local Stars and Dancers.

WHAT: The show will consist of fifteen local “Stars” who will be paired with talented ball room and shag dancers to perform a professional dance routine on the night of the show.
WHEN: Friday, August 21st; the night will begin at 7:00pm with “A Taste of Lee County” featuring some of the area’s finest chefs, such as Amy’s Confection Company, Bella Bistro, Cafe 121, Fresh Choice Cafe, Harris Wholesale, Java Express Cafe, Myra’s Kitchen, Smith’s Coffee and Bottled Water, and more. The main event- Dancing with the Stars- will begin at 6:00pm.

WHERE: Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center in Sanford, North Carolina.
WHY: As a non-profit organization, CIS depends upon local support of the community through businesses, civic clubs, communities of faith and individuals donating their time and resources. This investment will provide you an opportunity to be directly involved in building brighter futures for our children and giving them hope for a successful life.
The funds generated by the Dancing with the Lee County Stars will support local children and families through our existing programs includingBackPack Pals (matching needy children with backpacks full of food for their families over weekends and holidays) , the Teacher Resource Room(providing teachers much needed community resources into the classrooms), The Adopt a School Program (pairing businesses with schools to provide monetary and/or time donations), Bridges of Faith (pairing churches with schools to provide monetary and/or time donations), as well as many more programs such as Mentors, Lunch Buddies, School Stuff Campaign, Newspapers in Education, Kids Voting, Emergency Fund,eMentoring, etc.
HOW: The title of Lee County “Dancing Star” will be awarded to the couple with the highest fundraising total at the end of the evening. There are three ways to support your favorite Star:
1- Purchase a ticket or sponsor a table to see Dancing with the Lee County Stars live.
2- Cast votes for your favorite Star on the night of the event.
3- Vote online Early and Often!
The only question is “Who will get your vote for Dancing with the Lee County Stars?”
